(Yes, I know I will have to single load them) The question is what is a good starting point for how far off of the lands to start? Note I will use a Sinclair Bullet Seating Depth Tool to find the OAL for the bullet touching the lands. Thanks. Ed

Web24 nov. 2010 · Posts: 190. IMO, you are better off starting .010 - .020 off the lands as every rilfe is different. Find a load that groups good and move the seating to see if it improves. What works in one rifle may be a dangerous situation in another. As "jeepkid" pointed out, you run the risk of over pressure. Just not good common sense to start off ... WebWhen selecting the cartridge overall length (COAL) we recommend starting with a minimum “jump” of .050” off of the lands. You can test different seating depths and find a “sweet spot” that your particular firearm prefers. We suggest working in at least .025” increments as follows seating the bullet deeper to allow a further jump.
