WebOct 9, 2024 · Phong is required for ambient occlusion and some other stuff. I highly recommend setting $PhongBoost (and sometimes $RimBoost) to 0 rather than disabling $Phong. (I have experienced once where I had to disable phong completely to get rid of some shininess, I have to say, but only once.)
